About Goreme Open Air Museum
Goreme Open Air Museum is a unique treasure, acknowledged as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. What To See
The magnificent structures of the museum are carved out of tuff, a type of soft volcanic rock, and represent the ascetic life of ancient monks. The most notable structures include the Apple Church, Snake Church, and Dark Church. The frescoes found in these churches date back to the 9th and 11th centuries.
Tips for Visitors
Visitors are advised to wear comfortable clothing and footwear as the site involves a fair amount of climbing and walking. The museum is open seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the summer months and until 4:00 PM in the winter months.
