This renowned region stood its ground, living up to its reputation both in terms of its breathtaking natural beauty and the allure of historical charm, and it most definitely delivered an experience that surpassed expectations! This memorable sailing journey embarked from the delightful harbour of Kas, a picturesque fishing village that won hearts with its captivating charm and heartwarming hospitality.
Day 1: Soaking in the Rustic Aura of the Kas Village
The expedition launched splendidly as I boarded a traditional Turkish gulet at 11:30 AM, with a heart brimming with expectations and a spirit ready for an unforgettable chronicle. The fascinations of this sailing vessel lay not just in its antique and rustic aesthetics, but also in its comfortable ambiance that instantly immersed me in an exhilarating marine adventure. The day was graciously punctuated by a delectable lunch served on deck, where enticing flavors of the local gastronomy teased my palate.
With the beautiful afternoon sun showering its golden rays along the evocative coastline, I decided to stroll around the local market stalls of Kas, noted for their extraordinary handmade jewelry and clothing items. Interactions with local artisans, coupled with an exploration of their beautiful creations, served to deepen my appreciation for the village's vibrant and rich culture. The day drew to a serene end with an overnight anchor at the tranquil Aquarium Bay, where the calming surroundings and stunning coastal views were nothing short of enchanting.
Day 2: Unveiling the Wonders of Butterfly Valley, Oludeniz, and St. Nicholas Island
Waking up amidst the tranquil embrace of nature felt like a chapter borrowed from a captivating novel! The journey, en route to the lush Butterfly Valley, was filled with awe and admiration. One of the most thrilling add-ons to the itinerary was an optional activity; paragliding over Oludeniz - reputed as the most photographed beach across Europe. The breathtaking view of the landscape from soaring heights, juxtaposed with the stunning blue of Turkish waters, had me lost for words, conveying a sense of amazement that only someone who has experienced something similar could relate to.
As the day evolved towards the evening, we arrived at St. Nicholas Island. Here, the array of engaging activities serving as the day's wrap up were the cherry on the cake. The decadent twilight sky unfolded a series of water sports, mouthwatering Turkish pancakes served by local vendors, and an intriguing exploration of the island's historical ruins.
Day 3: Finishing up the Memorable Journey from St. Nicholas Island to Fethiye Harbour
The concluding day of the cruise began on a restful note, with a laid-back breakfast at St. Nicholas Island. After gorgeous swims in the crystal-clear waters and another scrumptious lunch at the spectacular locales of Samanlik or Tarzan bay, the cruise began its final leg towards the grand wrap-up at Fethiye Harbour.
Carrying an album full of cherished memories and indelible impressions of the mesmerizing Turquoise Coastline, I reluctantly bade goodbye to the vehicle of my adventure, and my co-travellers who had transformed into friends over the course of the journey, as the day reached its end.
